National policies must be carefully balanced

Honesty in the direction of the economy and the things that can adversely affect the well-being of the most vulnerable in the society. As we establish a more honest society it is quite possible that the vulnerable will not be left behind.

Many of the ways the economy is evaluated does not give and honest reflection on all of the sectors of the economy. For example, the often-quoted GDP (Gross Domestic Product) does not as often believed demonstrate a healthy economy.

The GDP measures the time a “dollar” takes to go around the economy, so in high inflation many dollars are needed to purchase those products that in low inflation times far fewer dollars needed, so this may measure activity but not really very helpful to see how healthy the economy is.

A strong measure of the economy is discovered by seeing how much a low income earner as left from their income after the essentials like housing food clothing and heating are paid for; if the % left over after the essentials is increasing then for that part of the economy we can say the economy is improving.

If we were to make comparisons between different levels of income throughout the economy we can soon see if the economy is improving in all sectors or whether there is some sectors showing significant variations from other sectors. Such a measure may demonstrate whether a tax at a certain income sector may need some adjustment to retain a certain type of balance in the economy accross all sectors

National polices are more than ecconomic ones, determination need to be made in regard to conditions for visiting our country or coming to become a part of our country. The more harmonious a nation is the less that is needed to be spent on Law and order; however inviting people to come and visit or the become a part of our country without sufficient housing and sufficient flexibility in the health system to cater for an upswing in demand. If the supply of housing or health care is compromised by new arrivals, then the new arrivals become a resented people due to no fault of their own. As well if new arrivals do not want to be involved in our culture but rather create their own areas where they live in their culture from their birth country, resentment will build towards them. It is the role of the national government to monitor this and to put in corrections as necessary as soon as possible – It is most unfortunate that the current government in 2026 had completely dropped the ball on these important factors. Any future government will have a huge problem sorting out both housing affordability and the rising culture tensions as this government is a head in the sand type government to these issues. Corrections to these matters are difficult and much harm and heartache is created for many of the citizens but in the end it must come.
