EDUCATION – EARLY EDUCATION

Christians for Communty recognises that the future of the nation lies in the hands of the children of today. To ensure the younger generation is fully empowered we acknowledge that education is one of the most key areas that must be addressed. In early education learning to relate in play, sport and study with all in a respectful manner is extremely important.

POLICY:

  • C4C support a voucher funding system so that the funding goes to school where education is received giving greater choice to parents as to where their children will be educated.

  • The C4C will work towards a universal standard of education across the country offering all students equal opportunities.

  • The C4C will support teachers in the classroom by ensuring our curriculum is rigorous without being too prescriptive or overcrowded as well as more refresher courses. While also focusing on subject areas best suited to providing employment in the future.

  • The C4C will support home schooling choices.

  • The C4C will give parents, principals and school communities, greater management control of their schools – by encouraging a ‘students come first’ culture amongst staff and ensuring the delivery of better education outcomes at the local school level.

  • The C4C will continue current levels of funding for schools, indexed to deal with real increases in costs and we will ensure that money is targeted based on the social and economic situation of the community.

  • The C4C will make more investment in science education at primary schools. We will restore the Primary Connections science education program which has been strongly supported by Australian Nobel Laureate, Professor Brian Schmidt.

  • The C4C will work together with social media operators, schools, parents and children to tackle cyber bullying and other harmful material and behaviour targeted at individual children online, by measures such as ensuring large social media operators rapidly remove harmful online material directed at a child.

  • The C4C would encourage schools provide an independent counsellor or similar to whom students and/or their parents can address complaints of harassment by staff.

  • The C4C will continue the National School Chaplaincy Programme in Schools to support the emotional wellbeing of students.

  • The C4C will ensure freedom of voluntary religious education and that Christian schools can operate under Christian principles.

  • The C4C will aim to develop program for more affordable and effective daycare centers
